A fine fellow I know in south Florida recently wrote a book entitled Regular. The subtitle reveals the motivating factor that led him to write it: A Young Man with Autism and His Journey to Be “Ordinary” Which Took Him to “Extraordinary”

I interviewed Zachary for Sun News Austin:

“I wrote my book to tell readers that they can be successful if they keep being motivated and to not give up no matter the obstacles. I once struggled with the goals I wanted to achieve but I never gave up. I kept going by asking for help and relied on those who have helped me. I held my head up high and was determined to achieve my goals and I did. And even if I’ve achieved them now, there are more goals I want to achieve throughout my life.

“Right now I am working two jobs, one at a restaurant and another at a school. I am also attending college and studying film because I like movies and not only want to make some movies of my own but if possible to see my book in the theaters one day. I also attend bible study Tuesday nights and interact with the people around me. I have my own YouTube channel called ‘Captain Zach’  so I can make my own content on youtube https://youtube.com/@cap10zach?si=-K49oKvAiQMR0u0W

“For my goals in the future, I would like to visit Tokyo, Japan and explore its shops, sights, and restaurants. I’ve always wanted to visit there and want to see some of their fascinating attractions I never got to see in person. My next goal is to go to San Diego Comic Con so I can explore the biggest comic book convention in the world. Next goal is to get a job as a full-time camera operator at a news station once I get done with college. My last goal to achieve is to continue writing more books and get them published. I am writing a samurai book and trying to make it into a series, a children’s book, and a medieval book to start off with, along with 15 to 16 other projects I have already planned.”

I found the Amazon reviews of this book to be especially insightful. Here is one:

“This engaging first-person recollection of Zachary Pike’s challenges after graduating from high school with a special diploma offers a revealing insight into the experiences of a young man with autism. Zach’s descriptions of the struggles that he faced both academically and socially during this time period in his life, as well as his accounts of both kindness and cruelty by those around him, keep the narrative flowing. Because of Zach’s perseverance and the continuous support of his family, Zachary accomplished his goals and faces a bright future ahead. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to develop a deeper understanding of individuals ‘on the spectrum’.”

I highly recommend buying this inspirational book. It was published by Authorhouse and is available on Amazon for $8.76 in hardcover.
