This year’s Swan Songs Serenade, in its 14th year, was a testament to the power of community. Held at the Four Seasons, a crowd of over two hundred and fifty donors, friends, supporters, and musicians showed up, each playing a crucial role in raising funds to provide musical last wishes to those nearing the end of their lives. The event was officially sold out, reflecting its collective commitment and the abiding belief amongst Austin’s music community that musicians matter!
One exceptional auction item is a rare concert by renowned Texas songwriter Jimmie Dale Gilmore and an all-star band at Donn’s Depot, a beloved Austin music venue. This intimate gathering includes optional two-step lessons, specialty cocktails, and a valid Texas BBQ feast.

Swan Songs, a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2005, has a long history of bringing comfort and joy to individuals and their families through the power of music. The organization was inspired by the experience of Austin musician Christine Albert, who was asked to sing for a dying fan in the early 1990s. Since then, Swan Songs has worked with numerous hospices and care facilities, providing personalized musical experiences for those facing life-limiting illnesses.
Swan Songs’ unwavering commitment is to fulfill musical last wishes, regardless of an individual’s financial situation. The organization recognizes the importance of compensating professional musicians for their time and talent, and it is this dedication that drives its fundraising efforts like the Serenade and silent auction. It’s this commitment that makes the organization’s work possible, and it’s this compassion that makes a difference in the lives of those it serves.
Swan Songs dedicate itself to crafting uniquely personal musical experiences. By pairing requests with musicians who can evoke cherished memories, emotions, and cultural connections, the organization ensures that each performance is a deeply meaningful and personal journey. The requests they receive highlight how deeply personal music can be, weaving together a tapestry of a person’s life experiences, cultural roots, and personal joys.
By tapping into music’s power to bring solace, Swan Songs creates a meaningful bridge to memory and peace for those in the final stages of life. To learn more about Swan Songs’ mission and their impact, visit Swan Songs.
